Artist's Comments

/EDIT. I added charcoal, and though it is not done yet, I want to upload what I have because it's WAAYYYY better than it was before. I think. I've yet to do the hair and make the skin a bit more realistic

(April 4, 1979 - January 22, 2008)

[link] is the original, and by looking at it now I just realised how horridly I did his hair, haha.

I'll edit it later. My excuse is that I couldn't see it behind the word "Entertainment" because I was using a cover of the one I had.

It's very accurate, congrats! :) I really like the way you captured his expression. Also a cool use of shadows. Keep it up, dear

I am all that's left. Or maybe, I'm all that ever was. What about you? Do you remember your true name?
:iconelliez:
Spanks you, dear :D But... no favorites yet. And I am not asking you to, I'm just stating the fact that I failed in the whole "popular topic" thing x.x

Thankyousomuch!! Seeeee? I'm not a complete loser. Though I should really draw more often so I am higher up the scale. I just need to think up what to draw. HELLPPPP PEDRROOOOOOOOoooOoooOOOOo.

Ahem.

Oh my :eyes: Someone's getting awesome :eyes:

Wonderful expression on his face. Really realistic :D

The eyes seem kinda off, in the photo it's off too but you can try to make his right eye a little bit more "closed" maybe?

Other than that, the only things that keep you from conquering the popular topic area are some key topics:

-The skin. I can't do that myself either, and I guess I can't be helpful but... Anyways. :D Realistic artists tend to vitalize skin. You may give his face some highlights, that seems to be promising?

-The shirt! Get some very dark pencils and charcoal, girl! =P The lines make it less appealing through a thumbnail =P

And that's all I can offer with my incompetence

silence.

Heyheyhey I am still working on it xD I intend to make it way darker, yesyes. And I will do the skin a bit better too but I need to get myself in order with the charcoals first because everything will be darker.

I shall have an updated version at the end of the week, and have it up on monday perhaps. Otherwise, I am proud of it already because I haven't drawn this religiously since my Serenity picture that I did in 2006 and uploaded a few months ago. x.x

Otherwise, I shall do more drawing so I get real good ;P I just need ideas. I am thinking do the joker next and then somenone on dA. Liiike.. I was thinking Paranoiqzz guy who's name i can never remember who's under my favorite photographers. :D

Why saying so? Has anyone ever pointed you as a loser? You shouldn't underestimate your work.
About drawing, I know what you mean - practice leads to a state near ' perfection ' (even though perfecion is a very strong word, but you get my point :) )

About what to draw, I believe you should do something that you feel comfortable doing (for instance if you like doing portraits, like this one, you could do some more). Then you can start expanding to other things - maybe trying to exteriorize thoughts or moments through compositions in a more creative way. One thing that I love to do is to try to picture a scene out of a certain music I like, and then try to make it come to life, so I can show those thoughts to others.

Don't know if this helps or not, hope so :)

D00d, I totally do that, pretty much all the time. All my past photos have to do with songs and music. (I took them WHILE listening) and--I decided I'll just experiment. If I am doing something abstract, then I never ever edit it in the future because it comes out exactly how I want it.

If it's realistic, then I won't stop until I get it as close to the original as I can :D

REALLY well done. It's one of my most fave pictures of him and you pulled it off excellently. :w00t!:

I'm not going to be nitpicky to the details since I don't really draw realistically that much at all. THIS is how Heath usually comes out whennever I draw him:

Since you seem to be mentioning the new Entertainment weekly as your drawing subject, I have to ask: Didja like the article? I thought it was the most touching tribute to him and I've read it over and over. :aww:
